À LA PLAGE
This is my ode to the summer I wish I had. (think Mediterranean cliff-sides, spritzes, striped umbrellas, freshly shucked oysters, bronzed and sandy skin, salty hair…you get the picture?)
RETURN OF THE LADY PORTRAIT
She was talking about how cool it was that women used to have their portraits painted. Dressed to the nines, and often posed in a beautiful room, surrounded by things that were meaningful to them, they documented that moment in time in such a special way. “Let’s bring back the lady portrait!” she said.
The Perfect brownie
One of my favorite sweets is the brownie. It’s been done a million times, with a million variations, but sometimes the good ol’ classic reigns supreme. After testing and tweaking my recipe for a while, I feel like I’ve now achieved the perfect brownie! (at least, according to me!) These are rich and chewy with a smooth glaze, and topped with flakey sea salt to balance all the sweet.
LATELY LOVING: FEBRUARY
February 14th is just around the corner, so this month I’ve rounded up some things I love, loosely based on the theme of Valentine’s Day. There’s my favorite shampoo/conditioner combo, which just happens to be called LOVE, gold heart earrings from my new favorite jewelry line, a punchy lip color with a funny name, and a fragrance enhancer meant to give off that enviable french girl “je ne sais quoi”, just to name a few.
LATELY LOVING: JANUARY
It’s finally winter here in Texas, which makes me very happy. Cold weather is my favorite because I get to enjoy all my favorite things: cozy clothes, lighting candles, cooking, and sitting by the fire with a cocktail and a good movie. This month, I’m sharing with you some of my cold-weather essentials, along with some others I’m wearing and loving right now.
A Sweet Holiday Tradition
Every year, since I was about 4 or 5 years old, we’ve decorated gingerbread houses. It started with a tiny graham cracker house in kindergarten and grew through the years to a mid-sized gingerbread chalet and later into a full blown gingerbread manor. It’s a labor of love and I’m so thankful that we’ve been able to keep the tradition going for so many years.
LATELY LOVING: DECEMBER (Holiday edition)
The holiday season is in full swing, and I want to savor every minute of it! Here are some things I’m really excited about this month, including my favorite Christmasy cocktail, party-ready earrings and heels, and a round-up of my favorite holiday songs to set the tone for some cheer.
My Thanksgiving Table
For this Thanksgiving’s table setting, I was inspired by some new plates I purchased from Anthropologie. The colors are rich, and the feathered paint reminds me of turkey feathers. I wanted to do something slightly non-traditional this year, and I’m really excited to show you how it turned out!
Pumpkin Rolls
When the cold weather snaps, it’s time to bake! A couple weeks ago, I wanted to bake something fall-ish, and had seen these on Pinterest, so I decided to give them a try myself. Essentially, they’re just dinner rolls, tied up and baked. They look complicated, but are really very simple! If you can wrap a package, you can wrap a roll. I hope you’ll give them a try.
Lately Loving: November
This month I’m sharing some dishes I bought for my Thanksgiving table, the cutest little pet cave, cool and comfy sneakers, my new favorite earrings, and more. Check them out!
1:4 // One Console Styled Four Ways
Foundational basics are the key to a well-appointed home. When you invest in good quality, timeless pieces, you’ll be able to keep them forever, and never tire of them. Just like a little black dress can be styled a million different ways on your body, a classic console table has an equivalent versatility in your home.
Lately Loving: June
This the first in a monthly series I’m starting, where I’ll share with you all the random things I’ve been loving lately. I always enjoy reading about or hearing from friends, the products, music, food, etc. that they are super into, so I’m hoping you’ll feel the same way.
Must Have: Kitchen Tools
In this post, I’ve shared with you the six tools I use (almost) daily. Whether you’re stocking your kitchen for the first time, or just trying to pair down what you do have, these items are a great place to start!
Italian Countryside Luncheon
Picture a long wooden table set in an olive grove in the Italian countryside. The table is set with natural linens, the centerpiece is made up of fresh citrus from the local farm or market, and the wine is decanted. Do you see it? That’s the vibe I was going for when I set the table for this luncheon.
